Mike Rad has been a competitive level surfer for most of his life.

He first started competing in the Eastern Surfing Association. He went onto to be a stand out on his College Surf Team at UNCW. He then went on to compete in the NASSA in Southern CA. He moved to Hawaii for a year to challenge himself in large surf. He has traveled the all over the US and the world in search for perfect waves.
His acting career and surfing experience met when he got to surf for a Snickers Commercial in Hawaii. The famous surf photographer Don King filmed him wiping out on purpose at the world class waves at Pipeline on The North Shore. Although he does not compete anymore, he still loves to surf.

He currently teaches surfing and is available for private lessons.
